Justin Barrett asked:
> What's the difference between VRAM and DRAM in graphics boards?
VRAM is typically 20% faster for 24-bit displays. This may not make much
difference when running LW itself, since Modeler, where you're especially
looking for screen update speed, runs much faster on an 8-bit display, for
reasons that have little to do with the video card. It might make a big
difference in LW-related tasks like image processing.
> On a related note, can a board with DRAM be upgraded to VRAM?
Almost never.
> Is 16 megs of RAM really enough to run LW?
More is better.

NT and the programs that run on the Alpha have been specifically compiled
for it. Alphas aren't PC clones. They run programs compiled for Alpha.
